Confidence grows one small win at a time. The best thing you can do at home is create lots of low-pressure chances for your child to try, wobble and try again — with you cheering them on.
Give real jobs: Letting your child help lay the table, water a plant or carry (unbreakable!) things tells them “I trust you”. Small responsibilities build a big sense of capability.
Praise the effort, not just the result: “You worked so hard on that tower!” teaches persistence far better than “You’re so clever.” It keeps children trying when things get tricky.
Let them lead play: Follow your child’s ideas instead of steering. When they’re the director of the game, they practise making choices and feeling heard — the roots of real confidence.
